“Exploring the real-world power of Russia’s S-400 air defense system.”

According to Insider, Russia’s S-400 Triumf—known within NATO as the SA-21—is widely regarded as the world’s most advanced air defense system. The missile complex is believed to be capable of intercepting virtually any aerial threat, ranging from fighter jets and unmanned aerial vehicles to cruise missiles and ballistic missiles.

The Russian missile system has a maximum engagement range of up to 400 kilometers and can reach altitudes of 50 kilometers. It is also equipped with a radar system reportedly capable of detecting the United States’ most advanced stealth fighter aircraft. However, the S-400’s true strength lies in its ability to track up to 300 targets simultaneously and engage 36 of them at the same time. In addition, the system is said to be capable of intercepting strategic missiles with ranges of up to 3,500 kilometers—nearly four times that of the U.S.-made Patriot system.

That said, is the S-400 truly as “invincible” as claimed by Russia’s Ministry of Defense? Based on test results and a limited number of disclosed combat reports, Western military experts argue that while the S-400 is not impossible to defeat, it remains a highly capable and effective air defense system.
